In Wisconsin Prosperity Network v. Myse, Wisconsin Supreme Court Case Number 2010-AP-1937, several political advocacy groups filed an original action with the Wisconsin Supreme Court, challenging campaign finance regulations, promulgated by the GAB, which placed onerous reporting and recordkeeping requirements on such miniscule political messages as blogging, printing t-shirts, or painting a barn in support of or against a politician or political issue.
The groups achieved a temporary injunction halting the new regulations from going into effect back in August, 2010, and were heard in oral argument for a permanent injunction on the first day of the court’s 2011-12 term in September. A ruling is expected later this term.
