WILL Sues Over Race Discrimination in Texas
July 18, 2023 | In pursuit of “Equality Under the Law” and a true colorblind society for all Americans, WILL filed a lawsuit against a San Antonio-based government program called the “Bexar County Small Business Assistance Program.” WILL alleges that the $10 million program discriminates against small business owners based on race.
WILL CHALLENGES DISCRIMINATORY PROGRAM ON BEHALF OF TEXAS SMALL BUSINESS
The Lawsuit: The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) filed a lawsuit against a San Antonio-based government program called the “Bexar County Small Business Assistance Program.” WILL alleges that the $10 million program discriminates against small business owners based on race. The lawsuit names Bexar County, the home of San Antonio, and Liftfund Inc., a non-profit charged by the county to administer the program.
Background: WILL sent a letter to Bexar County and its County Manager, David Smith, condemning its racially discriminatory “Small Business Assistance Program.” Bexar County is using $10 million of federal tax dollars to support small businesses; but the program discriminates against many businesses based on race, including WILL client DigitalDesk, Inc. WILL’s letter notified the county that it would file a lawsuit on behalf of DigitalDesk if the discrimination did not stop.
