“These problems may have warranted caution, but it got worse. The GAB and prosecutors tried to do something that I am not sure anyone ever has. They argued that a candidate could “coordinate” with independent groups in an election in which that candidate was not on the ballot. This should have been a clear stop sign to the nonpartisan GAB judges and staff, but it was not.”
