Students attending Wisconsin’s private choice and charter schools outperform their peers in traditional public schools in both English Language Arts (ELA) and math, even after accounting for demographic differences, according to a new Apples to Apples report released by WILL.
WILL has released a statement in response to a lawsuit filed on behalf of Wisconsin PTA, several Wisconsin school districts, multiple teachers’ unions, individual parents, educators and students, and the Wisconsin Public Education Network, alleging that the Wisconsin Legislature has failed to adequately fund public schools.
WILL will be in Washington, D.C. this week to advocate for Voter ID as well as efforts to protect elections through improved voter roll maintenance, oversight, and other election integrity measures.
The Wisconsin State Senate approved Assembly Joint Resolution 133 (AJR 133) on first consideration, a WILL-supported proposed amendment to the Wisconsin Constitution designed to restore legislative oversight of administrative rulemaking.
Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) supports the Teacher Bill of Rights, AB 614 / SB 611, introduced by Representative Goeben and Senator Cabral-Guevara. The legislation clarifies and strengthens teachers’ authority to maintain order in the classroom, protects teachers from retaliation when they enforce classroom rules or respond to disruptive or violent behavior, and ensures transparency and accountability when serious behavior incidents occur at school.
The Wisconsin Assembly voted in favor of several legislative initiatives supported by WILL to reign in the bureaucratic state, which has taken rulemaking and regulatory authority away from Wisconsin’s Legislative Branch.
