In a surprising move, the court entered an order later that afternoon lifting the lower court’s injunction against the law. The Seventh Circuit concluded that Wisconsin’s law was substantially similar to the Indiana voter ID law upheld by the United States Supreme Court in 2008. The move should give Wisconsin enough time to implement voter ID before the November election.
