The News: Today, Governor Tony Evers made clear that in his 2023 Budget Address he will propose a freeze in school choice enrollment, defying common sense and education freedom. The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) has issued a response.
The Quotes: WILL Research Director, Will Flanders, PhD, stated, “While it’s not surprising, it is certainly disappointing to hear Governor Evers’ plan to freeze private school choice enrollment. A ‘one-size-fits-all’ model does not meet the educational needs of every student, and school choice clearly offers important options for Wisconsin families and better academic results.”
WILL Associate Counsel, Cory Brewer, stated, “No student, parent, or educator should accept the false narrative that zoned public schools can work for everyone. Why does Governor Evers disregard the fact that school choice options continue to provide significant performance advantages for Wisconsin students?”
