President Obama named DC Circuit Court Chief Judge Garland this morning
March 16, 2016 – Milwaukee, WI – President Obama officially nominated Merrick B. Garland this morning to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who unexpectedly passed away last month. Chief Judge Garland currently sits on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
WILL President and General Counsel Rick Esenberg provided the following statement:
“President Obama has nominated a good judge and lawyer in Merrick Garland. But he is not a constitutionalist in the tradition of Justice Scalia. The Senate would be well within its rights, given the state of the court and our country, to insist that he do so.”
