2025 represents “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to end government-sponsored racism in America
The News: The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) released the following statement in support of executive orders signed by President Donald J. Trump yesterday evening, ending long-standing, unconstitutional programs and policies of the federal government. Trump’s executive orders answered our call to action from last week proposing that he remove all DEI programs within the federal government as well as resolve the pending lawsuits against the former Biden Administration (three of which involve WILL).
One new executive order requires federal agencies to identify DEI programs that should be dismantled and to propose whether to settle pending lawsuits within sixty days. Another executive order fully revokes former President Biden’s “Equity Agenda.” WILL specifically recommended these exact actions last week.
The Quotes: WILL Deputy Counsel, Dan Lennington, remarked, “Make no mistake, President Trump’s inauguration marks a seismic shift in the American political and legal landscape. Through a series of executive orders, Trump has begun to dismantle ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ programs, ending decades of taxpayer-funded racism in America. Unfortunately, these ubiquitous DEI programs and practices are rooted deep in Washington and around the country. After four years of success dismantling DEI, the real work has just begun. While we applaud these new executive actions, we will also continue to work with President Trump and his administration to ensure that all Americans enjoy equal rights under the law.”
Additional Background: In 2025, WILL launched a new comprehensive effort to eliminate “diversity, equity & inclusion” programs in all levels of the federal government ahead of the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump. The effort, in total, represents at least $124 billion in federal spending and was highlighted in the Washington Post and Fox News last week.
WILL also launched a new webpage to be updated daily to highlight the progress of the Trump Administration on this issue. We look forward to new leadership at the federal level to fully enforce federal law and investigate allegations brought forward by WILL.
About WILL’s Equality Under the Law Project: Launched in 2021, WILL’s efforts target various programs within Biden’s Racial Equity Agenda. WILL beat President Biden seven times in court, representing over 70 clients from 26 states. With a new Trump Administration committed to upholding the Constitution, WILL’s focus will shift to ensuring that the new administration abides by its promises and the rule of law, and to targeting race-based DEI in other areas of American life, such as higher education, K-12 education, healthcare, and finance.
